Philippine-American War military documents Five decorative promotion certificates for James Holbrook starting with two during his service in the Philippines during the last stages of the Philippine-American war. He was with the 9th battery field artillery, Pasay Garrison, Manila. One is dated 1906 from Fort Russell, Wyoming and the last two are Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Connecticut & Massachusetts -- 1905 Honorable Discharge document and 1942 Coast Guard promotion document Honorable Discharge of Earl Beebe is signed by George M Cole. Cole, was the 32nd Adjutant General of the State of Connecticut. Item has separations at the folds. Promotion of John Tautkus to Bostswain's Mate, First Class is signed by Captain W. C. Capron. Capt. Capron graduated from the Coast Guard Academy at New London, CT. In 1940 and 1941, he served as captain of the Port of Baltimore. In 1943, he became commanding officer of the Spencer, a convoy escort in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Caribbean areas. His book, "U.S. Coast Guard," was published in the mid-1960s. Another is a bird's-eye view of New York from the World Building and the large card is from the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition (Boston Glass Company exhibit. Ephemera -- Circa 1927 flight certificate In the early days of flight it was common for barnstorming pilots to take passengers on sightseeing flights for a fee. The Potomac Flying Service took over 25,000 passengers for sightseeing flights over the City of Washington by 1928. A souvenir card was provided. This card is made out to Mary L.
