4001 ogO   imageUSA IN 4 PACKED SCOTT NATIONAL ALBUMS, AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION, MANY CLASSICS INCLUDING CERTIFICATES WITH AN EXCELLENT BOOKLET PANE COLLECTION..

One man's lifetime collection with thousands of stamps, mint and used, all one of a kind with much substance throughout. Beginning with #1 a four margined imperf with red cancel accompanied by APS certificate, followed by 1851/56 with 2 different types of the 1cts Franklin, then types II and III of 10cts green, as well as a 12cts. The 1857/61 also with different type of the 1cts, 3cts, 5cts #29 and #30, 4x 10cts inc 2 with red cancels one of which is type II, as well as a most attractive combined red numeral and black cds strike on #26,  ,followed by 30cts Franklin #38. Then the 1861/62 defins inc 3 certificates on the 24cts #70, #70a and #78, accompanied by various denominations from 1cts to 90cts, including some very attractive examples, i.e. between #63 and #72 inc #67, 5cts buff. Interesting grills inc scarce 13x16 #83, as well as comparison 12x14 #85 latter with straight edge. Then the so called Z grills with #85b (cat $1300) and #85e (cat $2200). Followed by the next page with the E grills 11x13 with a complete series of #86 to #91 (cat over $2000), followed by the F grills 9x13 inc #92 (cat $525), mint #93, #95 (cat $875), #96, #97, #98, #99 (cat about $2000), the rare 30cts orange (cat $850) and even scarcer #101 (various faults, cat $1900) with certificate, nevertheless a very collectable stamp. Then 1869s complete with very well centered 1cts Franklin unused through to the 90cts with both types of the 15cts i.e. #117 and #118 included in #112 to #122 (minimum cat $5000), followed by #123 as well as #133a. Then the National Bank printings inc #134, #135, #136, #138, #141 ($1200) some with faults including a reference cancel on #144 with certificate (cat $2400) still a presentable example. Then follows the same without grill from #146 through to 90cts Perry #195 (min cat $1400), followed by the secret marks of 1873 series inc #156 through to #166, certificate on #165, there is also a scarce #157c 2cts brown on grill on white wove paper (cat $750). Then the 1879 soft porous paper inc unused #182, mint #183, unused #184, mint #118 with secret mark (cat $2500), through to the 90cts Perry. Then 1882 5cts Garfield mint brown #205 (cat $335), as well as 1881/82 complete series #206 to #209 mint with #208a representing the 6cts, also the 1883 October printing #210 and #211, followed by 1877/78 #212 to 90cts Perry purple and 1890/93 to 90cts Perry orange complete, then Columbians complete (save $4) with a rather attractive $3 in deep olive green color, followed by more defins inc imprint strips, as well as a most unusual #279be pair from the booklet pane with diagonal specimen overprints, followed by #267b III, occasionally 2cts vermillion pair mint imperf 4 margins, etc. Then trans-Mississippi to $1 and turn of the century with $5 Marshall, also good imperfs 1906/1908, etc.The ,20th ,century is virtually complete, with a particularly good range of Washington/Franklin heads including 1 album devoted specifically to booklet panes of 6 with many scarce items here, starting off from #301c onwards – time does not permit other description other than there are many good finds to be made and very substantial face value, as well as a large number of EFOs interspersed throughout the collection, again with many good items present. Please note that the ,5th ,album with the airmail, could not be found by the estate, hopefully to be offered at a later auction. A wonderful collection with much more here than described, to view this properly would take many hours especially the classics, the booklet panes, the coils section and Washington Franklin heads in general.
