SWEDEN
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
681 c Sieger #57A imageSieger #57A, 1930 Pan-American Flight, an unlisted posting from Sweden for this popular flight, two Swedish air posts tied to cover by "Stockholm/Luftpost/15. 5. 30" c.d.s. in connection with the first night flight from Stockholm to Hanover and directed to Friedrichshafen for the first leg of the Zeppelin flight to Seville, German 2M South America Flight Zeppelin single in mixed franking tied by "Luftschiff/Graf Zeppelin/19. 5. 1930" c.d.s., backstamped Seville, very fine; this is posted precisely the same way as other countries that did not have treaty state status, such as Italian area postings, and certainly was a proper routing for a Pan-American Flight posting (not a re-posting), very rare and the only example we have ever encountered (Michel #62; this posting from Sweden is not mentioned in either Sieger or Michel). (Image) Est. 2,000-3,000

SOLD for $3,000.00
Will close during Public Auction

685 c Sieger #427A imageSieger #427A, 1936 Olympic Flight of the "Hindenburg", the impressive and unique posting of Sweden on the highly popular and important Olympic "Hindenburg" flight, a mixed franking card with Swedish 50o Bromma Airport commemorative tied by the special Stockholm-Malmo-Amsterdam daylight flight c.d.s. of July 27, 1936, in mixed franking with a German 75pf Zeppelin single tied by "Luftschiff/Hindenburg/1. 8. 36" on-board Zeppelin c.d.s., this being very unusual as most treaty-state postings of this flight, especially the mixed frankings, connected with Zeppelin at the Frankfurt Rhein-Main airport and received that cancellation, beautifully struck magenta flight cachet, and receiving the Berlin airport arrival cancel so that all the markings are on the front of this card, extremely fine; the Olympic Flight is not only popular with Zeppelin collectors but with those building worldwide collections of Olympic related material; the card offered here is believed to be the only example of a posting from Sweden on this flight, it is not listed in Sieger but is listed as one of the key postings for this flight by Michel; ex-Gauss, Repkin (Michel #32Ib; €1,500). (Image) Est. 2,000-3,000
