494 c Sieger #31m imageSieger #31m, 1929 Delayed America/Round-the World Flight, Zeppelin photo card first posted for the America flight with 2M Zeppelin single tied by "Friedrichshafen/Luftpost/15. Mai 29." c.d.s., not flown until August with red delay cachet, blue flight cachet and additional Zeppelin on-board cachet of May 16, 1929, backstamped New York, this card was addressed to Mr. Hch. Kubas, the Chief Steward of the "Graf Zeppelin", who then carried the card on the continuation of this flight, which was the Round-the-World Flight that started with the return of the Zeppelin to Germany from America, and continued on to Japan where Mr. Kubas had a Japanese 6s Carmine applied and tied by domestic Tokio c.d.s. of August 21, 1929, then on to Los Angeles where he applied a United States 1c Green tied by "Los Angeles, Cal./Aug 26 29" c.d.s., very fine; an extremely rare documentation of these two flights of which only 24 cards were posted with this mixed franking and not all of those started as early as May on the delayed America Flight; 2003 Leder BPP certificate (Sieger €2,000; Michel #30E).
