857 nhbl 1942-45 var. image#1942-45 var. 20c Desert Plants se-tenant block of four, engraved dark green and dark blue omitted, a spectacular new discovery of this striking error, consisting of a full bottom left plate no. 111111 7 pane of 40, the error is found on a little over half of the sheet being caused by a portion of a sheet being laid over this sheet as it went through the press applying the two engraved colors, the result is that all five se-tenant blocks of four on the left half of the sheet, including the unique plate block of four, are completely missing the engraved colors, in addition three other Barrel Cactus designs have the engraving entirely omitted, since the sheet that overlaid this sheet was at an angle an additional two Barrel Cactus, two Beavertail Cactus and three Agava stamps have portions of the engraving omitted ranging from just a small part of the inscription to the entire inscription and part of the design, o.g., n.h., very fine; the combination of being a se-tenant design and the way it occurred, affecting only a portion of the sheet, makes this an immensely rare color-omitted error, for comparison this same issue is known with the lithographed deep brown omitted and valued in Scott at $4,250.00 for a se-tenant block, there are 20 blocks of that error known, four times the number of the mere five blocks that are found in this newly recorded sheet.
