1861 og 27 image#27, 1914 1/- on 1M Carmine, wide 5 1/2mm spacing, deep intense color and impression, o.g., fine and rare with only a total of 63 1M stamps surcharged between the two spacings, this being the much scarcer; signed Koehler, Kosack and H. Bloch (S.G. #27; £2,750.00). (Image) $2,250.00

SOLD for $675.00
Closing..Oct-01, 01:54 PM
1862 og 28 image#28, 1914 2/- on 2M Blue, wide 5 1/2mm spacing, Gibbs second setting, position 4, unusually fresh mint single, with intense deep color, full o.g., very lightly hinged, one short perf. at bottom right, fine; extremely rare example of this stamp as the total issuance for both spacings was between 57-75 stamps, this wide spacing being the scarcer, but in addition Gibbs considered that the total number mark values printed from the second setting to be very small, making this example even rarer; signed H. Bloch (S.G. #28; £2,750) (Image) $2,500.00

SOLD for $1,050.00
Closing..Oct-01, 01:55 PM
1863 og 29 image#29, 1914 3/- on 3M Violet black, wide 5 1/2mm spacing, Gibbs second setting, position 1, strong color and impression, o.g., slight gum toning, otherwise nearly very fine; only between 35-48 3M stamps were issued of both spacings combined, this wide spacing being the scarcer; in addition Gibbs considers that very few mark values were surcharged from this second setting making this even rarer yet; signed H. Bloch (S.G. #29; £4,750.00). (Image) $4,000.00

SOLD for $2,200.00

1864 og 29C image#29C, 1914 5/- on 5M Slate and carmine, wide 5 1/2mm spacing, Gibbs second setting, position 2, beautifully centered mint example of this incredibly rare high value, intense brilliant colors, o.g., extremely fine; this is by far the rarest of the regularly issued, non-error stamps of New Britain, only 30-35 5M stamps total of both spacings were believed to have been issued, in addition this is clearly from position 2 of the second setting with a deformed period after the "G" and interestingly a strongly impressed large round period after "I"; Gibbs considers the reported issuance of only seventeen 5M stamps being surcharged of both spacings from settings 1 and 2 to be correct making this an incredible rarity beyond its already rare status, and to be in such impressive condition as well is even more phenomenal; signed Champion, Friedl and H. Bloch, plus accompanied by a 1960 Friedl certificate (S.G. #30; £18,000). (Image) $25,000.00
