COLLECTION BALANCES
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1411 og/nh 1/703, C1/JQ5 #1/703, C1/JQ5, The balance of the William L. Lewis collection, many hundreds of virtually all different stamps housed in a single Scott hingeless album, comprising the issues from 1847 through 1931, virtually all of the stamps are mint, with the exception of a few used classic stamps such as two copies of the 5c 1847 Issue and a single 10c 1847, the 19th century (through the Bank Note issues) is quite spotty and is largely populated by early purchases by Mr. Lewis before condition became paramount, so there are several high cataloging and scarce stamps, but regumming and other flaws are present, from the 1893 Columbians through the early 1930's the collection dramatically improves both in its comprehensiveness and quality, with a plethora of low to medium priced mint stamps in fresh and often choice condition, of particular note is a very strong representation of the Washington-Franklin issues (including coil singles and pairs), continuing with nice mint sets such as the 1922-25 Regular issues, Kansas-Nebraska overprints, White Plains souvenir sheet, etc., corresponding back-of-the-book issues are found including air posts, a few special deliveries and postage dues and ending with a set of the 1912-13 Parcel Post Postage Dues; the album concludes with a nice run of Confederate States general issues; as previously mentioned, the 19th century (and a few later 20th century high values) are found in mixed condition, the remaining material is almost exclusively with o.g., the great majority of which are never hinged and fine-very fine or better. Est. 7,500-10,000

SOLD for $16,000.00
Closing..Jul-15, 04:00 PM
1412 nh The 1935-1994 portion of the William L. Lewis collection, an exceptionally clean and comprehensive collection neatly housed in four expensive Scott hingless albums (with matching slipcases), virtually all single stamps from the period are present, plus a scattering of plate blocks, starts with the Washington Bicentennial set through 1994, with a nice showing of Farley position pairs and blocks, air posts and officials from the corresponding period are present, we even note a Recalled Legends of the West sheet, o.g., all appear to be n.h. (although an occasion l.h. stamp may be found), fine-very fine. Est. 500-750

SOLD for $1,500.00
Closing..Jul-15, 04:00 PM
