1182 c 4-8 image#4-8, 1c-10c 1904 Overprints cplt., an unusually attractive set tied to small cover to Panama City by "Canal Zone/Dec 8, 1904/La Boca" postmarks, Ancon transit and Panama backstamp, stamps are fresh with bright strong colors, fully perforated, which frequently is not the case, and with an especially well centered 10c key value, very fine and unusually choice cover; because the Taft Agreement had been announced in Panama City on December 5, private individuals and business firms proceeded to use up whatever stamps they had on hand pending the new issues to be released on the 12th. 1198 c 319 imageUnoverprinted United States 2c Carmine, Ty. I (#319g), horizontal pair from the bottom of a booklet pane, franking a most unusual cover sent from the battleship U.S.S. Ohio at anchor in Cavite Bay and addressed to Des Moines, Iowa, pair (which had faults) is tied by largely readable "Manila, P.I./May 9 (1905)" duplex cancel, sent via mail paquebot and delivered to Manila, P.O. as indicated by a curious and rare bold negative "S" handstamp, being one of only five covers known with this marking, sender's endorsement on reverse "U.S.S. Ohio/Cavite, P.I.", as well as Des Moines bkst., some slight aging to cover in addition to normal usage wear, cover opened out for display, fine; a marvelous piece of Philippines postal history; ex-Brody. 1200 og/nhO 1/751, C1/QE4 #1/751, C1/QE4, Substantial mint and used collection in two Scott hingeless albums plus a few still on dealer's sales pages, includes a fair representation of used 19th century through the Bank Notes with a smattering of unused and mint mixed in, includes some better items as an attractive #67 with 1861 California c.d.s., plus a nice group of grills, starting with the 1881 Bank Notes the collection is largely mint including Small Bank Notes cplt., Columbians complete to the 50c, a selection of Bureau issues and Trans-Mississippis complete to the 50c plus a used $1.00 value, 20th century commemoratives are quite comprehensive to 1934 with a nice White Plains souvenir sheet, strength is found in Washington-Franklin issues with coil singles plus pairs or line pairs, a few of dubious nature not counted, also includes nice 1922-34 regular issues, most n.h. including the $5.00 Liberty, airposts lack the 1930 Zeppelins but are substantially complete for the period to 1934, as are the special deliveries, plus full mint sets of parcel posts and Offices in China, condition varies with faults to be found in the 19th century, but nice collectable stamps are found there as well, mint generally has o.g., especially in the 20th century where items are often found never hinged, 20th century is largely fine-very fine; a valuable collection with high catalog value and certainly worthy of examination; seven PF certificates accompany. Est. 15,000-20,000
