80 ogPB 342 image#342, $1.00 Violet brown, a phenomenal quality full top margin imprint and plate no. 4957 block of six, being in the finest condition imaginable for this important plate block rarity, boasting extraordinary overall physical attributes that would be impressive for any plate block, let alone one of the rarest of the 20th century, with an extra-large sheet selvage, stunning prooflike color and impression on immaculate paper, incredibly well centered throughout, with each stamp possessing uncharacteristically large margins, pristine o.g., five stamps n.h., top right stamp may have just the barest suggestion of a hinge mark (if at all), superb; by far the finest 1909 One Dollar Washington plate block in existence, neither the Todd nor the Wampler collections, the two collections by which all other plate block collections are judged, had an example that comes close to the quality of the plate block offered here from the Fogelson collection.
