17 ogOc S.G. #1/47, 1840-58 Line Engraved Issues specialized collection neatly mounted in album, plus some unmounted items in two stockbooks and a couple envelopes, throughout there are cancels, multiples, covers, varieties, etc., the 1840 1p Black is represented by over 50 examples including one mint, a couple multiples and some on piece or cover fronts, about twenty of the 1840 2p Blue are present, there is an extensive showing of the 1841 1p Red and 2p Blue, with several multiples, cancels, covers, imprint pieces, etc., the later perforated stamps also contain better items including two used blocks of four and six of the 2p Blue plate 14 on the original page from the J.B. Seymour collection, while the condition is mixed, it is in much better overall quality than usually found, as there are many four margin examples on the imperforate issues; would make an excellent basis on which to build an impressive collection of these popular issues. Est. 5,000-7,500

SOLD for $12,500.00

18 O S.G. #8/196, Massive 19th century used assemblage of about 5,500 stamps in four albums or stockbooks, the collector laid out the two of the albums in an attempt to obtain every check letter from every plate number of all of the surface-printed issues, therefore at first glance it may seem a bit spotty, but when one realizes how many of some of the values are present, the catalog value really starts to add up to extraordinary levels, for instance there are about 200 of the 1873 6p Grey (S.G. #147; Scott #62) and there are over 40 of the 1884 5/- Rose, plus there is a strong group of the 1883-84 1/2p to 1/- values, also there is a large amount of the earlier 1p Red stamps, with some of the plates complete for the check letters, typical mixed condition; a valuable lot whose Scott catalog value is about $250,000.00. Est. 10,000-15,000

SOLD for $13,500.00
Closing..Apr-03, 09:00 AM
19 ogO High cataloging collection of well over 1,000 stamps to 1970 in an album, collected by Stanley Gibbons, with all of the different shades and plate numbers, plus there are a few multiples, covers, cancels and varieties spread throughout, the line-engraved and surface printed issues are quite strong, with a high degree of completion of all the different plate numbers including several mint or unused values, as well as the high cataloging shilling and pound values of the 1867-83 issues and the later "long" stamps, the 20th century is also well filled including a mint £1 King Edward and the £1 Seahorse is present both mint and used, the postage dues are complete and there is a nice group of official overprints, the condition is a little mixed as usual, however there are plenty of useful fine-very fine stamps to be found; our estimate is only a tiny fraction of the total catalog value involved. Est. 5,000-7,500

SOLD for $23,000.00
