1702 c UC1 var. image#UC1 var., 5c Blue on white, die AM1, size 23, knife 106, wmk. 30, border 3, a used example of this entire with "Phila. Pa./North Phila. Sta./May 31 1932" duplex, preprinted address to "Francis C. Stokes & Co., Seedsmen, Sanford, Florida", minor toning spots at left, otherwise very fine for this; this cover is unusual in that the UPSS catalog notes that this envelope, with this watermark and border, is only known mint and prices it mint for $150.00 in 1990, being in effect a paid reply envelope it is quite likely that any that were used only came back to this one company and were not saved, thus making this very rare used (UPSS #AM5-30). (Image) Est. 200-300

SOLD for $300.00
Closing..Oct-17, 04:00 PM
1703 ogO U1/U531 #U1/U531, Comprehensive mint and used cut square balance on Scott pages, loaded with items cataloging $50.00-$400.00 (and some higher), value from all issues, but there is particular strenghth and value in the Reay and Plimpton issues, with good runs of clean mint cut squares to the 90c values, there are also several elusive 1920-25 Surcharges cataloging $100.00-$400.00 each, some minor faults among the earliest issues, however the overwhelming majority is very fine; a substantial collection that should prove useful to either a collector or dealer. 30,000.00

SOLD for $10,000.00
Closing..Oct-17, 04:00 PM
1704 ogc U9/378, UO1/61 #U9/378, UO1/61 Comprehensive and valuable mint nineteenth century postal stationery collection/accumulation of well over 700 envelopes, this lot sports unusually fresh and attractive material from an old-time hoard, starting with the first issue which includes two 6c Red on buff, 6c Green on buff and 10c Green on buff, plus an excellent group of the star dies with all the different sizes of the 3c Red on white plus others including 1c values, we note a nice 3c Pink on blue letter sheet of the 1861 issue (#U36) plus other values to the 10c, nice 2c Black Jacks with a scarcer 2c Black wrapper on dark manila, 1870-71 Reay issue includes at least one example of each value through the 90c Carmine, and the 1874-86 Plimpton through the 1899 Issue are characterized by having numerous examples of many values in the great number of different sizes that were issued for each, especially in the lower values, we also note some of the better die types as well, there are a few official envelopes, mostly the lower values but we note a 12c Red of the Plimpton issue, condition is very nice for this period of material, which often comes rather tattered in a collection such as this, there are a very few with pre-printed addresses, but nearly all are mint and fine-very fine or better; the total basic Scott value is over $15,000.00, which does not reflect the considerable premium that all the different sizes and varieties would warrant if the UPSS catalog were used; certainly a lot deserving of careful examination. Est. 3,000-4,000

SOLD for $6,500.00
Closing..Oct-17, 04:00 PM
