362 c S.G. #48, 49 imageS.G. #48, 49, 1899 1/2p Mauve and green and 1896 1p Mauve and carmine pair, tied to commercial cover to The Manufactures' Supply in New York by scarce "Grenada/B/24 NO 00" c.d.s. of the parish post office in Victoria, St. George's transit on the reverse, backstamped, tear to cover in opening at bottom right, not affecting its very fine appearance or the important elements of the cover; a scarce posting as little mail came out of this parish (Scott #39, 40). 363 c S.G. #48, 49 imageS.G. #48, 49, 1899 1/2p Mauve and green and 1896 1p Mauve and carmine, two singles of the latter, all tied to scarce cover to the British Consulate at Curacao, "Venezuela" (actually Dutch Antilles) by very scarce "Grenada/F/27 MY 01" of the parish post office at Carriacou in the Grenadines, St. George's and Trinidad transit, routed this way as there was no scheduled service between the British West Indies and Curacao, backstamped, mild toning to stamps, otherwise a very fine cover from a scarce small post office to an equally scarce destination (Scott #39, 40). 364 S S.G. #49s/55s S.G. #49s/55s, 1895-96 1p-1/- Queen Victoria with "Specimen" overprints cplt. for the five values originally issued in 1895, plus the 1p value issued in 1896, each in a strip of five, all horizontal except the 1p which is a vertical strip, o.g., at least three stamps in each strip are n.h., very fine-extremely fine; a total of 750 specimens of each value were issued for distribution to UPU members, it was normal practice to send five examples to each country, normally these were broken up and distributed within the country, only a few were kept together in multiples such as these making this an extremely scarce unit (Scott #40S/46S). 366 c S.G. #49 imageS.G. #49, 1896 1p Mauve and carmine, top sheet-margin single tied to 1899 cover to London by blue "Concord/Grenada/JA 19 99" c.d.s., with additional strike at left, St.George's transit and backstamped, cover roughly opened causing tear at bottom right and being opened on more than one side, plus some glue stains, nevertheless fine and a rare cover; Concord is a village in the St. John's Parish and is one of the earliest village post offices opening in 1890, it is also the last post office to use a colored cancel, ending the practice in 1900 (Scott #40). 379 E S.G. #56 imageS.G. #56, 1898 2 1/2p Columbus Commemorative, engraver's die essay being a progressive proof of a partially completed frame incorporating "Postage" in the right tablet as the Crown Agents had required, also has some emblems and value tablets from other countries on the same die, in black on glazed white paper, measuring 51x54mm, punch in the center, plus manuscript note "Tint 18", which is in fact the approved color of the stamp, small edge tear at bottom and other minor creasing in the margins, a most interesting and fine working proof, undoubtedly unique; ex-Messenger and Hackmey (Scott #47).
