449 O RB10a image#RB10a, $5.00 Green and black on violet paper, a magnificent quality used example of this popular revenue rarity, possessing numerous remarkable physical attributes which are rarely found on this normally faulty and poorly centered stamp, beginning with its outstanding overall freshness, with gorgeous intense colors and prooflike impression on immaculate paper, wonderfully well centered and margined (centered just slightly to the right as are most examples), especially neat and unobtrusive manuscript cancel, completely free of the flaws which affect the vast majority of known copies, even still retaining its full original gum, extremely fine; of the mere 74 issued of the Five Dollar Proprietary stamps on violet paper, this is one of the finest in existence; an immensely rare stamp in this incomparable quality; even the legendary Morton Dean Joyce collection did not have a #RB10a of this caliber; 2003 PSE certificate. 454 ngbl 1, 1f #1, 1f, 2c Rose, remarkable unused block of 22, positions 33-36/83-84, being by far the largest known multiple of this stamp, (the next largest is a block of twelve), in addition the top eight stamps have "Panama" reading up, while the bottom fourteen stamps have "Panama" reading down, creating four of the eighteen known examples of the rare vertical pair with "Panama" reading up at top and down at bottom variety (#1f), plus there are several other varieties of "Panama", most notably the inverted "V" for "A" variety at position 74, well centered, especially for a multiple of this size, some small faults including three stamps with tears which are insignificant considering this block's status as one of the most important showpieces in all of Canal Zone philately, very fine appearance; 1968 PF certificate and a clear 1969 APS certificate; ex-Coveleski, Plass and illustrated in Canal Zone Stamps (CZSG #1, 1f).
