789 nh 2540 var. image#2540 var., $2.90 Eagle, black (engraved) omitted, rather striking color omitted error that removes the dark shading from head and the eye, this is a legitimate error, not the printer's waste mentioned in Scott, o.g., n.h., trivial internal paper wrinkle, according to Datz all but three of the reported twenty stamps have faults from mishandling, this is so trivial that this may be one of the three considered to be sound, still very fine and scarce (Datz #CO 175B; unpriced).
