1392 O RD138 image#RD138, $500.00 Bright green, Series 1942, a choice used example of this immense stock transfer stamp rarity, with strong bright color, quite well centered, light violet handstamps as well as the usual perforated initials cancel, very fine; it is believed that no more than five or six examples exist, making this one of the keys to completing the "dated" stock transfer series. (Image) 6,500.00

SOLD for $9,000.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1393 O RD234 image#RD234, $10,000.00 Bright green, Series 1946, a magnificent used example of this great rarity, for not only is this a stamp that appears at auction perhaps only once a decade, but this particular example is also in remarkable quality, as it possesses incredible centering within enormously large and perfectly balanced margins, bright color, neat black handstamp and cut cancels, extremely fine; it is believed that less than five examples of the $10,000.00 Series 1946 Stock Transfer stamp exist, and this is probably the finest example among these few; grossly undercataloged in Scott, as evidenced by the example in the Larry Lyons collection, which was not nearly as well centered as this example, and realized $6,750.00 plus the 10% buyer's premium. (Image) 2,000.00

SOLD for $9,000.00

1399 O RD312a image#RD312a, $10,000.00 Bright green, Series 1949, pair, one without overprint, the bottom pair in a showpiece used vertical strip of four, being a complete "sheet", serial nos. 15261-15264, the bottom stamp missing the "Series 1949" overprint as found on the other three stamps, light handstamp and cut cancels on all four stamps, well centered, rich color, there are a few sensibly rejoined perforations in the error pair, and the error stamp has a light horizontal crease near the top, all of which are unimportant considering its unique status, very fine; the sole example of this important Stock Transfer error and the basis for the listing in the Scott catalog, although we are certain that its current catalog valuation may prove to be quite low when the hammer finally falls on this remarkable error strip; accompanied by a copy of an article by Philip H. Ward, Jr. declaring this variety as "possibly the most important and valuable error known among the twentieth century issues of United States revenue stamps." (Image) 4,500.00

SOLD for $7,250.00
