1271 og UO11 image#UO11, 3c Blue Post Office Dept. on blue, an extraordinary mint cut square, being the only cut square in existence, measuring 40x44mm, strong rich color and impression on clean paper, tiny paper inclusion at top right mentioned simply for complete historical accuracy, very fine; until just a few years ago the 3c Blue on blue Post Office Department official existed only in entire form, with a mere four recorded (all mint), and there has never been a cut square that has surfaced in over 125 years; one of the four entires (ex-Wampler) was in a larger size which had some water staining and discoloration away from the indicia, it is from this entire that this cut square has been extracted, reducing the known number of entires to three and creating this unique cut square; an exciting opportunity for the serious collector of cut squares to obtain a unique cut square that has heretofore been unavailable.
