AS56), with good to large margins on 1841 (27 Mar.) mourning entire letter from Somerset House, London to La Neuveville, Switzerland (1.4), spectacularly cancelled by several overlapping strikes of London "Paid" tombstone d.s. in red, with another very fine strike adjacent, showing matching oval "P.D.", straight-line "Strand D" h.s. in black, "Angl. / Calais" c.d.s. (29.3) in red adjacent, and "Delle" c.d.s. (31.3) and "Neuveville" double-ring arrival d.s. on reverse, rated "1/10" (10d.= British share and 1/-= foreign share for postage), "12" (decimes), and "34" on arrival; irrefutably the finest cover extant sent abroad bearing a Penny Black, and the only recorded usage of a Penny Black on cover to Switzerland; a peerless postal history gem imbued with character and an incomparable exhibition item of the highest magnitude; 1989 BPA certificate, as well as a 1991 Holcombe certificate.
