63 O 39 image#39, 90c Blue, an infrequently offered certified used example of this rarity, being one of the finest centered used #39's in existence, as this stamp features outstanding centering amid extravagantly large margins for this typically tightly margined value, sumptuously rich color and a sharp impression on white paper, very light and unobtrusive black cancel, couple of barely discernible filled in thin spots, which in no way detract from this stamp's remarkable extremely fine appearance; there are only approximately 170 to 180 used #39's which have been certified as genuine by the Philatelic Foundation, it is highly unlikely that more than 10% of this number exist with the centering this stamp possesses; 1997 PF certificate. 75 O 74a image#74a, 3c Scarlet, imperforate, a striking bottom left corner sheet-margin example, with huge sheet margins and the other margins being quite large, stamp with central manuscript "J.M./ Jan. 31/ 1868" in three lines, thought by students of this rarity to be in the hand of James Macdonough, one of the founders of the National Bank Note Company, with color, impression and paper exactly as found on the existing perforated examples of this trial printing, some creasing of little importance considering the near unique nature of this remarkable imperforate, extremely fine appearance; one of only three recorded Three Cent Scarlets with the manuscript initials and date, one of which is perforated, the other two being imperforate; 1999 PF certificate.
