683 O J7 image#J7, 50c Brown, an incredibly choice used example, possessing exceptional centering within large margins, strong rich color, but most impressive of all is this stamp's perfectly struck red Maltese Cross postmark, extremely fine; not only is this one of the few gem quality used #J7's we have ever encountered, but this is the first we have seen to boast a fancy cancellation; ex-Jennings. SOLD for $375.00
Closing..May-31, 03:30 PM
684 ng J8 image#J8, 1c Deep brown special printing, a most attractive unused example of this immensely rare and terribly difficult stamp, without gum as is so often the case with the Postage Due Special Printings, however this stamp is far above the norm as it is nearly free of the myriad of flaws which affect most existing copies, there is only the faintest trace of an internal crease, otherwise the stamp is completely fault free, bright and fresh with prooflike color and impression, while centered a bit to right (as most examples are found), this is actually better centered than most, very fine; a major rarity both in terms of its condition and number of examples still thought to exist; according to William E. Mooz, in his extensive study of the Postage Due Special Printings, the One Cent value is far more rare than most realize and the quantity issued figure in the Scott catalog is erroneous, as the vast majority of the approximately 9,000 One Cent stamps sold as Special Printings were simply regular issues, Mr. Mooz conjectures that only about 500 actual Special Printings were sold, and that perhaps as many as 400 of these purchased by a Mr. G.B. Calman were destroyed; 1991 PF certificate. (Image) 12,500.00

SOLD for $4,750.00
Closing..May-31, 03:30 PM
685 og J9 image#J9, 2c Deep brown special printing, a fabulous quality mint example of this incredibly rare stamp, being in a condition which places it among the very finest in existence, possessing virtually perfect centering amid uncharacteristically large margins, strong rich color and a clean crisp impression on bright paper, full o.g. that has been relatively lightly hinged, small blue owner's handstamp on reverse, extremely fine; any Two Cent Postage Due Special Printing is a major rarity, but to find one still retaining its original gum and in premium quality is an almost impossible challenge; the Scott catalog lists the quantity issued at 1,361, but it is widely accepted that only a tiny fraction of this number were actually sold as Special Printings; 1966 and 1980 PF certificates. (Image) 8,500.00

SOLD for $12,500.00
Closing..May-31, 03:30 PM
686 og J10 image#J10, 3c Deep brown special printing, an attractive mint example of this enormously rare stamp, being the most elusive of all the Postage Due Special Printings to find in any condition, rich and distinctive Special Printing color, plus its impression is razor-sharp on bright paper, centered a bit to right but not objectionable so, part o.g., small thin spot, otherwise very fine for this; only 436 were issued, but only a tiny fraction of this number still survive; 1985 PF certificate. (Image) 12,500.00

SOLD for $10,000.00
Closing..May-31, 03:30 PM
687 ng J11 image#J11, 5c Deep brown special printing, unused, without gum as is so often the case with the Special Printings, quite well centered within very large margins, deep rich color, some faults including thins and a rounded corner at top right, still of very fine appearance for this major rarity; 1959 PF certificate. (Image) 7,500.00
