601 nh 476A image#476A, 30c Orange red, the extremely rare unwatermarked, perforated 10 issue, an exceptionally fresh and attractive mint example of this notoriously difficult and elusive stamp, possessing a marvelous overall freshness, with rich luxuriant color and a clean crisp impression on bright paper, while centered a bit to top left, this is actually much better centered than the majority of the small existing population (most are strongly off center), with its perforations well clear of the design, pristine o.g., never hinged, very fine; one of the rarest U.S. stamps of the 20th century, with only two sheets recorded (200 stamps total), this being position 54 from the plate no. 6917 sheet; 1984 PF certificate. III perforations, used as always (there is one uncancelled stamp known which has Schermack perforations trimmed completely off), light and unobtrusive wavy line machine cancel, full Schermack perforations at left, strikingly intense color in a deep rose shade distinctive only to this type, large margins on three sides, centered into perforations at left, minute tear inside top perforation not mentioned on accompanying certificate, fine appearance; an important 20th century rarity of which only 38 examples are recorded, a large number of which have the Schermack perforations trimmed off on one side and often centered into the design; with select examples of this rarity topping $50,000.00 or more at auction, this may very well be the most affordable example to come on the market in quite some time; clear 1960 PF certificate.
