II, tied to small cover by mostly clear "Anamosa, Ioa./Jun 9" c.d.s., addressed to Denver City, Jefferson Ter(ritory), which was the provisional government of gold miners before the Territory of Colorado came into being, cover received in Denver on July 4, 1860 before it had its own P.O. established on August 30, with clear "Hinkley & Co.'s Express/July 4 1860/Denver City" circular handstamp applied upon arrival in Denver (very early usage of handstamp), with fascinating and poignant original enclosure datelined "Highland Grove" which gives the details of a devastating tornado which hit the area; stamp with faults due to having been affixed near the edge of the cover, small tear to cover at right not affecting markings, overall a fine and historical cover. I, a beautiful used example of this rare and often misidentified stamp, being one of the few existing copies whose perforations clear the design all around, as the vast majority of the known examples are found typically quite off center, plus this stamp is completely free of the flaws which affect a large number, deep luxuriant color and a strong detailed impression on bright paper, light and unobtrusive strike of a town c.d.s., even its perforations are fully intact all around (a rare trait on any perf. 15 issue), extremely fine; an important condition rarity; 1999 PF certificate.
