I, perf. 10 horiz., a phenomenal mint single that surely ranks among the largest margined, never hinged #449's in existence, as this rare coil is notorious not only for its typical poor centering, but for its lack of any sizable margins, most especially at top and bottom, this incredible stamp is one of the few rare exceptions to the norm, as it features extravagantly large margins all around and is marvelously well centered within them, furthermore this stamp boasts a remarkable overall freshness and brilliance, with vibrant red color characteristic only to genuine examples, unblemished o.g., n.h., an extremely fine gem; in our recent February 2001 Collector's Series sale we had the pleasure to offer the only other mint #449 coil single that comes close to the quality of the stamp offered here, after very spirited bidding the single in our February sale sold for a record $11,500.00 (plus premium), we fully expect this stamp to attract the same intense bidding; 2000 PF certificate.
