2166 ng S.G. #6 imageS.G. #6, 1858 1p Yellow green, Adelaide print, an extremely rare unused example of this classic stamp, featuring especially deep rich color and impression, large to very large margins all around, very fine and choice; one of just a few known unused examples recorded and in much better quality than any other we are aware of; listed but unpriced unused in both Stanley Gibbons and Scott, by way of comparison, the 1p in the Deep yellow green shade of the same stamp is priced at £5000 and $6,000.00 by the respective catalogs, and the yellow green shade is actually even rarer; accompanied by both a 1978 Royal Philatelic Society of Victoria certificate and a 1983 RPS certificate (Scott #5a; unpriced). 2175 og image1868-74 Departmental officials, a small but very scarce assemblage of mint/unused examples of these seldom seen stamps overprinted for use by various government departments, and according to Robson Lowe and the Gibbons catalog any unused examples of these stamps are regarded as "rarities"; includes the following: "C.O." (Commissariat Office) overprint in red on single rouletted 1/-, in black on perforated 1/- pair, and the same on a perforated 1/- block of four, and on a rouletted 2/- (1989 BPA certificate); "E." (Engineer) in black on perforated 6p (1985 BPA certificate); "P." (Police) in black on perforated 2p; "P.O." (Post office) in red on rouletted 1/- (1989 BPA certificate); and "S.M." (Stipendiary Magistrate) in black on perforated 1p; seven items in all (total of twelve stamps), several no gum, rest o.g., couple of small flaws, overall fine-very fine. (Image) Est. 750-1,000
