2261 O S.G. #79 imageS.G. #79, 1876 6p Yellow green, perforated 14 x 12 1/2, a lovely used example of this important British West Indies rarity which only exists used, being one of the most lightly cancelled and attractive copies available, only very lightly cancelled at bottom, fresh rich color, while centered just a bit to right as are all other existing examples, this stamp is quite well centered as its perforations clear the design all around (a most unusual occurrence on this), certainly very fine for the issue; 1977 RPS certificate as formerly #97a (Scott #61A; $4,500.00 for copies whose perfs. barely touch the design). (Image) £4,750

2262 og S.G. #2/256 S.G. #2/256, D1-25, Worthwhile mint balance of about 225 stamps to 1941, an excellent range of the Britannia issues of 1851-1872 (over 50 in all), including some shade varieties, from 1883 on the collection appears complete including postage dues and officials, Trinidad and Tobago issues are complete through 1941, while there are some minor faults among the earlier issues, condition is actually above average for these, with many four-margined examples among the imperforates, and a surprising number possess original gum, later issues are o.g. and fine-very fine (Scott #1/107, J1-17, O1-10, Trinidad and Tobago #1-61, J1-8, MR1-13, O1-5). Est. 750-1,000

2263 og S.G. #6 imageS.G. #6, 1879 1/- Lilac, an extraordinarily rare mint example, being only the second copy of this stamp we have offered in over five years, characteristic centering, strong rich color, o.g., h.r., accompanying RPS certificate states "soiled" which we find very little evidence of and "creased" which is nothing more than a bend along an old hinge remnant, in our opinion quite fine; a rare opportunity to acquire a stamp that is missing in most collections; signed A. Diena and accompanied by his 1964 certificate, as well as a 1980 RPS certificate (Scott #6; $4,500.00). (Image) £5,000

2272 ng S.G. #40 imageS.G. #40, 1881 "2 1/2" on 1/- Dull blue, setting 9, surcharge 26 without fraction bar, the unused single offered here is quite likely the finest quality example of this rarity in existence, as it possesses centering that is almost unheard of on any of the notoriously poorly centered 1881 surcharges, let alone on a rarity such as this, with uncharacteristically wide margins all around, deep luxuriant color as well, very fine; an important rarity of Turks Islands and of the entire Empire; signed Peter Holcombe and accompanied by his 1988 certificate (Scott #27a; $3,750.00).
