840 og/nh Mi. #233 var. ImageMichel #233 var., 1923 60c on 50M on 25c Dark cinnamon red, major printing variety of the 60c green surcharge, left margin horiz. strip of three, the right two stamps have a normal strong green surcharge, but the left stamp has no green surcharge from that press pass, producing the variety with and without surcharge, however there is a light second green surcharge misplaced and at an angle that is found in the left and center stamp with just traces of it in the right stamp, this produces the variety of double overprint on center stamp, o.g., hinged in the center stamp only, this variety was probably produced by a malfunction of the press as evidenced by a light printing crease in the left stamp and an extensive smudge of the green overprint ink on the gum side, a most interesting variety for the specialist with neither variety listed by Michel; 2000 Erdwien BPP certificate; ex-Lewis (Scott #N90 var.). (Image) Est. $400-500

SOLD for $400.00
