Mahfood, hundreds of loose stamps and stamps on piece, as well as hundreds of covers and cards, all neatly mounted and annotated on quadrille pages in six Frank Godden de-luxe albums, being a highly comprehensive assemblage from their introduction in 1881 to the 1970's (Nicholson Ty. TD1 to TD27 and Potter O3/37 to O3/41d), including earliest and latest known usages and a plethora of unique or exceedingly rare items, among which are TD1 from Cave Valley, Devon, Lluidas Vale and Ulster Spring on loose stamps, all of which are unique, TD2 from Hagly-Gap on cover (ex-Nicholson, Surtees and Woodward) and from Up Park Camp on cover to England, TD3 from Laughlands on postal card (unique), from Lacovia on postal card (also unique), from Hampstead (three known), Salt River (two known) and Walkers Wood (four of the seven known examples) on loose stamps, and Bog Walk on postal card, TD4 from Alligator Pond on postal card and on cover, TD7 from Cedar Valley on postal card, TD12 from Adelphia on wrapper (unrecorded by Nicholson, Potter Ty. R1/12), TD13 from Race Course on piece (no covers known), TD13 from Bushy Park (two examples, no covers known) and Toll Gate on post card (only recorded example), TD14 from Belfield (two on pieces, no covers known), Winward Road on piece (no covers known), TD15 from Colonels Ridge on piece (no covers known) and Harkers Hall on piece (no covers known), TD16 from Long Bay (two on pieces, no covers known), Swift River (no covers known), Llandewey (no covers known) and Devon (no covers known), TD18 from Ginger Hill (no covers recorded), Carron Hill (no covers known) and Bensonton on piece (no covers recorded), TD21 from Broadgate on piece (no covers recorded), Grantham on piece (no covers recorded), Victoria Town on piece (no covers recorded), Wood Hall on piece (no covers recorded), James Hill on piece (no covers recorded), Golden Grove on piece (no covers recorded) and Cable Office on cover (only struck for four days), TD22 from Munro College on wrapper (only in use from 24th September to 1st October, 1923) and TD25 from Ginger Ridge on cover (only in use for one day), to mention a few, some small stamp and cover faults as is to be expected, however most are fine-very fine stamps, covers and strikes; an incredible collection of this popular Jamaica postmark field that was a lifetime in the making and is the largest offering to come on the market since the Nicholson dispersal; a complete inventory is available. All permanent Jamaican postmarks were manufactured in England and sent out to the island. In 1881 Temporary Rubber Handstamps were first introduced at Devon, Cave Valley, Lluidas Vale and Ulster Spring Post Offices when temporary postmarks were needed upon the opening of these new offices due to a delay in the manufacture of metal handstamps from England, a practice which has continued to recent times. These were manufactured locally, usually in Kingston, by firms of retail stationers. They always have the name of the Post Office and the word "Jamaica" on them, with the date generally being filled in by hand. They were generally in use for a month to two years, however the rubber of which they were made soon wore down making the postmarks very difficult to decipher. The Mahfood collection is particularly noteworthy for the legibility of the strikes.
