1 c   New York City substantial stampless cover accumulation of 238 covers ranging from Colonial to the 1860's in sleeves and loose, priced (a long time ago) and unpriced filling a box, strength lies in straight line handstamps, clam shell datestamps and ship mail, we sorted through it and found Colonial two-line straight line "NEW/YORK" (6), plus "N./York" (22), "N./YORK" (13), "NEW/YORK" (2) and "N.Y" straightline postmarks, many of these being Moses Brown correspondence covers from foreign ports such as Russia, with a wide range of incoming ship rates, then the popular clam shell fancy oval datestamps (38), also with many being Moses Brown covers, followed by red ovals (9), c.d.s's in a wide range of sizes and styles, 46 covers with "Ship", "Steamship" or "Steamboat" handstamps including red oval "Steamer/5" and blue boxed "Troy & New York/Steam Boat", there are also 35 covers with integral rates ranging from 1c to 20c, plus carriers, forwarding agents, Hudson River Mail, "Rail R.", "Forwarded" and finally five covers with Brooklyn datestamps, covers generally fine-very fine with good to very fine strikes; an excellent holding for collector or dealer alike.
