Spink Shreves Galleries Sale - 105

The September 2008 Collector's Series Sale - September 11, 2008

Spink Shreves September 2008 Collector's Series Sale is filled with an exceptional range of highly desirable United States, British North America and Worldwide postage stamps and postal history. As always, several name collections highlight this particularly valuable and comprehensive sale of 1949 lots.

The United States portion of the auction contains hundreds of premium quality mint and used U.S. stamps - the vast majority with certificates - exactly the kind of material serious collectors have come to expect to see in a Spink Shreves auction. A private collection fills the auction with an impressive offering of premium quality “graded” U.S. stamps.

The Neal M. Allen Collection contains a fabulous assortment of "A to Z" countries of the world which also includes U.S. material. It catalogs in excess of $4,000,000 - featuring hundreds of elusive and rare stamps rarely offered at auction. Plus, many dozen desirable collection balances. The estate of Keith A. Wagner philatelic holding includes an exceptional collection of the history of worldwide aviation - highlighted by a sound, original gum example of the famous U.S. "Inverted Jenny" - Scott #C3a.

The George W. Brett Estate contains selections from the massive holdings accumulated over literally a lifetime by one of the greatest students of stamp production. Included are many esoteric and interesting individual lots, as well as collection lots. There is an impressive offering of U.S. Revenues from three separate collections. Many rarities from the Neal M. Allen Collection. Plus, gem quality first issues from a private east coast collector and selections from a specialist’s lifetime accumulation. The Philip W. Lindy Collection of worldwide stamps rounds out the featured collections. A true "old time" collection of the world, with many country collections offered intact which are filled with scores of scarce to rare stamps.

As with all Spink Shreves auctions, bidders may participate in the auction - live on the Internet - during the sale. Please see our website for details of this exciting bidding option.
