1815 Postal receipt for letters carried between Lima, Peru and Oruro, Bolivia, carried by Don Francisco de Paula Sanchez who received a total of twelve letters to
be delivered to Guancavelica, Huanta, Guamanga, Abancay, Cuzco, Puno, La Paz and Oruru, a large eight page document with the listing of the letters to be delivered and the written receipts and signatures of the postal officials, of great interest are
the five early handstamped straight line postmarks of each post office that possessed them and were applied along the route in conjunction with the written receipt including "Pvcara", "Puno", "Paz", "Sicasica" and "Oruro", each of these are
composed of the large capital letter straight line style of the early postmarks of the colonial period with Pucara having the old style "V" for "U", all of these markings are rated as rare by Escalier, if they are listed at all, a very fine and rare
postal document of this early period. (Image) |
