361 c 35a image35a: Two pairs of the 1¢ orange, applied in form of a strip of four and tied by St Thomas West 22 OC '72 cds cancels to envelope to Captain O'Malley at Aldborough, later redirected to Wardsville, with manuscript notations 'Printed Matter' top left and '50 Postal Cards about sale 1872' at right. This envelope originally contained 50 postcards when mailed and the stamps pay the 4¢ Third Class matter rate for up to 4oz @ 1¢ per oz (in effect from April '68 to July '73), some edge bends from enclosures, a choice and very fine multiple printed matter rate cover. 362 c 35i image35i: 1¢ yellow paying the 1¢ postcard rate and tied by Meaford 22 JA '77 cds to bicoloured all-over illustrated PRIVATE POSTCARD to Toronto, faint receiver on reverse, card has surface faults at left, still an attractive and very rare early usage. The 1¢ postcard rate was disallowed for use on Private Postcards from July 1877 to December 1894. This cover pre-dates the ban and is one of a mere handful known.
