608 c 43avar,F2 image43avar,F2: 6¢ chocolate brown DIAGONAL BISECT and 5¢ green Registered Letter Stamp, both tied by oval 'R' cancels to registered letter (3¢ postage, 5¢ registration fee) from Arichat 16 JY '91 to Margaree Forks, C.B. via Port Hawkesbury and Port Hastings 17 JU with Mabou 18 JY receiver, the ONLY KNOWN REGISTERED 6¢ BISECT COVER and a true Small Queen treasure and although the bisecting of higher denomination stamps was a 'hold-over' from Colonial times, it was practiced, tolerated and accepted by many postmasters in smaller towns, especially in the Maritimes throughout the 19th century, with 1994 Greene Foundation certificate stating 'genuine but not officially recognized'.
