2016 Fall Public Auction - October 20, 2016

Highlights of the Auction:
  • Great Britain QV classics include rare 1/- embossed with titanic margins, rare 2/- brown—perfectly centered and later high values to the £5. Cyprus leads off with a #1, mint, of the rare Plate 19, and a KE VII £5—also mint. Major Jordan provisionals highlight the Middle Eastern section.
  • We have a complete QE II Anguilla provisional set, we offer Falkland Islands £1 Centenary from a mint set and a used single, and rare Tristan Relief QE II from St. Helena.
  • Australian States features a South Australian £20, New Zealand has a nice section of Q Victoria Postal Fiscals and significant mint “O.P.S.O.”s, Samoa has a rare 1/- on 1M “G.R.I.”.
  • There is a strong range of early British Guiana ships, Grenada surprises with the all-but-impossible set of the second Postage Dues, a nice strong St. Vincent classics, Tobago features the semi-impossible mint 1d on half of 6d (#7).
  • Choice Canada and Provinces with early superb Classics.
  • From Africa we show better Mafeking provisionals, Gold Coast features the key stamps virtually complete including a postally used £2 KG V, rare Madagascar Consulars, Mauritius includes a 1d mint Dardenne and several Express Delivery rarities, Togo Occupation items to the 1M, we have 10 lots of Uganda typewritten primatives(!) and significant Zanzibar varieties to round out the offerings.
