Schlegel - Public Auction - September 30 - October 1, 2016 The 19th SCHLEGEL auction from September 30 to October 1, 2016 once again offers a wealth of fine postal history specialties, covers, good single stamps and sets, as well as the usual wide variety of collections and estates. Following the success of the Dr. Niesel-Collection of our last auction we bring you the next attraction: The RAINER-IHLENBURG-COLLECTION (Lots 7001-7957) – with postal stationeries and covers since the foundation of the German Reich – is presented in a special catalogue. Two other special parts are the prelude to our main catalogue: EUROPEAN TRANSITS (Lots 1-190) documents the transnational mail of different countries, focusing on pre-philately. Furthermore, the special part INTERNATIONAL SHIP MAIL (Lots 201-445) details the different aspects of the German and Baltic ship mail for connoisseurs of marine postal history.

As our last auctions showed, philatelic rarities are in great demand. With an eye for both rarity and beauty, we are pleased to present many interesting and potentially unique items in this auction: Our selection includes an OLYMPIABLOCK from 1936 (Lot 4269) in mint condition with an inverted watermark – a unique item to enrich any German Reich or sport collection. Another rare item is Lot 4007, an air mail stamp 40 Pfg. BLASSGRÜN (Deutsches Reich Mi-No. 112 b) as mixed franking on an air mail cover from Berlin to Leipzig. The German colonies section is highlighted by two lots: Foreign Post Offices Turkey, Mi-No. VI/I** (Lot 4614) and Kiautschou, Mi-No. 26B ** represent two wonderful collector's pieces. Lot 3744 presents the famous “Sachsen-Dreier” on a cover, cancelled by a well-struck and rare rhombus grid. An 1849 cover displaying the Swiss Basel dove stamp (Lot 3381) is undoubtedly a fine example of this classic postal history rarity. Dynamic Internet Bidding at StampAuctionNetwork.

van Dieten Stamp Auctions - Public Auction: The Professor Dr Mardjohan Hardjasudarma Collection - October 6, 2016 Van Dieten Stamp Auctions Ltd. is honoured and proud to present The Professor Dr Mardjohan Hardjasudarma Collection of the Japanese Occupation of the Netherlands East Indies 1942-1945 and the Republic of Indonesia 1945-1949. On the next page Dr Hardjasudarma tells us how he built this wonderful collection and why he took the decision to put an end to further collecting.

It does not happen frequently that such an important and extensive collection of this collecting area worldwide is offered in one auction. Those of Mattern (1997) and Hiegentlich (2003) were the most recent of such collections that were sold. Now that the Hardjasudarma collection is being offered it will give collectors all over the world an opportunity to add special and unique items to their collections.

The main part of the collection consists of postal history and covers the entire collecting area. You will find rather ordinary items as well as the greatest rarities, like covers from the Japanese occupation of the Great East and very rare items of the island of Sumatra during the Republican period. A special feature about this collecting field is that it is not merely about philatelic items, but many of these pieces have great historical value and significance. Some also call it ‘emotional philately’.

Regardless how you might feel about the postal history of Indonesia 1942-1949, a fact is that many of the lots that are now being offered are a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Maybe we will come across a few of these items in the future, either in a publication, or at an international exhibition. Than we will remember and say to ourselves or our friends: ‘This cover is from the Hardjasudarma collection’.

van Dieten Stamp Auctions - Public Worldwide Auction - October 7-8, 2016 Immediately following the special sale no. 634 of the magnificent Hardjasudarma collection auction no. 635 will take place on October the 7th and 8th. We are not exaggerating when we think that this auction promises to be perhaps the greatest of our nearly 125 years of existence. This particular perspective we owe to our contributors who have entrusted their collections, large and small, to us for auction.

We kindly ask your special attention for the very extensive, specialized collection of Old German States. You will find single stamps, pairs, stripes, blocks, postmarks and covers, all in the most wonderful quality. The describing of the lots and the presentation is given the utmost care. We trust that this very fine collection, divided into hundreds of lots, will attract attention from collectors and dealers all over the world.

The number of intact collections has increased again compared with our previous auction. The variety is enormous; almost all countries are more or less well represented. Many interesting collections of covers, internment camp mail and others from the Second World War in Europe are being offered. You will find the many hundreds of lots in the sessions with albums, folders and boxes. We urgently ask you to take enough time for viewing.

As a tradition, we start the sale with an extensive range of the Netherlands and former Overseas Territories. Among the many lots of the 1852 Issue you will find unused copies and the well-known black proof on white carton paper, however in a sheet part of 50 copies! Furthermore single stamps, pairs, strips and the 15 cent in a fine used block of four, postmarks and covers. Are you looking for rare stamps, varieties and misprints? We offer a nice selection of those as well.

The Postal History session contains, as usual, many special items. The pre-philatelic section offers the first part of the exhibition collection ‘The Postal History of the Low Countries up to 1813’ by the late Mr Van den Brink. We are delighted to present the Dr Han T Siem collection of the King William III issue of 1870, showing many wonderful frankings and very rare destinations. Finally some more KPM covers (Royal Packet Company) from the Kerzner collection and early Air Mail.
