Catalog at StampAuctionNetwork Online Images Available Public Auction Worldwide Material Postal History Found in SAN Search Engine Phoenix Auctions - Public Auction - July 5, 2014 Welcome to Phoenix Auctions Auction No.30, our fourth auction for 2014, and the year is only half over. With only 1329 lots, this auction is a little smaller than normal and we will begin the auction at 10:00am, this will still ensure that our room bidders can leave the City before the ‘end of football’ rush starts.

This auction has been split into 3 sessions. The morning session is completely taken up with 435 lots of Rest of World. As usual we have a few non-philatelic items to start with and within the PPC lots there is a wonderful collection of the ever popular Zeiher cards. There are many good British Commonwealth lots including another useful selection of more difficult variety and Specimen lots, quite a good group of BCOF lots and some very difficult and exotic GB. There are some interesting lots of foreign with a nice range of German Colonies, some useful China and, unusually, a very good range of Peru with quite a strong postmark and postal history element. Military collectors will be very interested in the range of World War I covers throughout this session.

Session 2 starts at 12:30pm, it begins with the Australian Colonies and ends with the Roos. The Colonies section has a nice range of stamps, proofs, specimens, postal history, stationery, quite a few revenues and, of course, postmarks. Session 2 finishes with the Australian collections and Roos. There are quite a few variety lots, specimens and the ever-popular CTO lots.

We begin session 3 at 3:00pm with the balance of the Australian lots and then finish with the Australian Territories and ex-Territories. The Georgian Heads section has quite a selection of variety lots including a number of 2d Orange Cracked Electros. There is even a complete sheet of 3d overprinted ‘OS’ near the end of this section. As you would have come to expect there are a number of postal usage covers including some very rare ones, such as a £1 Robes thin paper on cover. Decimal specialists will be interested in a comprehensive study of the 1976 18c Nationhood. New discoveries are always exciting and in the Postage Dues we have a 4d with the stamp printed on the sheet number. This has not been recorded before for any Australian Commonwealth stamp and is a must for the specialist. At about 3:30pm we begin our Postal Stationery section. We are very pleased with the wide range of lots we have to offer and our front and back cover items have been taken from this section. Almost all are single items and a number are exceptionally rare, one being unique and several being one of only 3 or 4 known examples. The overall quality of this section is very fine.

After the Stationery there is a good range of FDCs and quite a nice selection of Postal History lots, then we finish with a few territories and some PNG lots.

As you can see there is something for almost everyone in this auction. We hope you enjoy reading it. Dynamic Internet Bidding at StampAuctionNetwork.

Catalog at StampAuctionNetwork Online Images Available Public Auction with LIVE Internet Bidding US Material Worldwide Material Postal History Found in SAN Search Engine Sparks Auctions - Sparks Auction #15 - August 19-21, 2014 We are excited about the future! Right after this auction we begin our move to a new location (see our site for more details). Parking for our customers, a modern office building and a dedicated auction room hold promise for continuing an upward trend of busier and more valuable sales.

A few weeks later we will open an office in Western Canada. Victoria, BC has a strong and vibrant philatelic community and we want to contribute to that activity.

We continue to add expertise and experience to our auction team. As collectors and exhibitors we have won Gold Medals. Most of us have contributed locally and nationally to organized philately as Editors, Presidents, or Chairmen of Societies, Clubs and Stamp Shows. Several are accredited and respected philatelic Judges. We welcome and encourage new talent.

We now have the capability to hold three auctions annually on a regular schedule as well as the flexibility to offer one-owner or other specialized auctions. In future our auctions will be scheduled for winter, spring, and late fall. This will permit us to impose and adhere to firmer consignment deadlines.

Our daily contacts with fellow collectors give us important feedback. What we hear and experience is the phenomenon of lapsed collectors returning to their hobby, while continuing collectors add new interests.

Sparks continues to mark new milestones with more than 100 consignors to a single auction. Our last auction resulted in 309 successful buyers. Equally importantly, we had a much higher number of unsuccessful bidders who help our realizations with underbids. Our internet bidders have increased significantly, resulting in stronger realizations. We continue to be one of a small minority of firms which does not own the material offered. We also continue our policy of not starting the bidding at artificial “opening” bids.

Keen and observant collectors will note in this auction several dozen lots which were offered in our last sale. A few of these are re-offered because two large buyers from Sale 14 did not pay and did not return phone calls or emails. As disappointing as this was, we like to show confidence and trust in our bidders and are proud to say that such situations are a rarity.

This introduction is supposed to extol the virtues of the gems and rarities being offered. Because of our other news outlined above, the stamps will have to shout out their glories themselves. And they do. LIVE Internet Bidding at StampAuctionNetwork.
