Spink Shreves Galleries - Richard J. Rinkoff Collection of British Empire Postage Stamps - July 24, 2009
Spink Shreves Galleries is proud to announce we have been honored, once
again, to handle the unreserved auction sale of a marvelous collection of
British Empire postage stamps. The exceptional Richard J. Rinkoff
Collection will be sold in our New York City auction galleries on Friday,
July 24, 2009.
The Rinkoff Collection is a wonderfully comprehensive collection of the
entire Empire, with special emphasis on the stamps from British Africa,
British America and Malayan States – as well as a strong representation
from the Pacific Islands. Some of the more challenging areas he focused on
include the Uganda Missionary stamps, as well as Japanese Occupation issues
of Malaya. Completion was not Mr. Rinkoff’s goal, but rather he tried to
acquire as many elusive and desirable stamps he could find – in the finest
possible condition – with the prerequisite that the especially elusive
items be accompanied by certificates of authenticity.

Eastern Auctions Ltd. - Mail Auction - July 8th, 2009
Welcome to Eastern Auctions 220th mail sale, which closes July 8th, 2009. The catalogue is large and impressive
with almost 4500 singles, sets and large lots offered. This exciting material is certain to contain stamps of interest
to even the most discerning collector.
Our U.S. offerings continue to expand and Canada and BNA are always well represented. On page nine collectors will notice the
first of several early Canadian constant plate varieties. Bidding on such uncommon items is usually quite competitive.
There are some very special covers in the Canadian section, including several of the ever popular Henry
Hechler, who was a pioneer stamp dealer in Nova Scotia.
Collectors will also find many hundreds of interesting sets and single stamps organized by country. This is the
ideal way to fill in those empty spaces.
Both the Australian States and Australia have received some special attention for this sale, with many
uncommon items. Great Britain is also impressive. Lot #3914, a VF used KGV PUC £1, is just one of many key values
offered.
Large lots have been receiving a lot of attention of late; our lotters have been working together to improve consistency with our
estimates and descriptions. Large lots are a great way to get started in a new collecting area and they are an
ideal way to get sufficient material to become familiar with the subtleties of a given country. Our long time
bidders will certainly notice our efforts and our newer bidders will find the estimates helpful. There are well over 500
large lots, many of which are collections exactly as received.
Bids can be submitted by mail, fax, email or telephone. Mail early – summer holidays will increase mailing
time. If you are not certain your bids have arrived, please call us to confirm.
Bidding is in Canadian Dollars; invoices in other currencies will be adjusted. As always, there is No Buyer’s Premium and satisfaction is guaranteed, so bid with confidence.
